Dr Lisa Reynolds

Clinical Psychologist Edinburgh

ASSOCIATE of THE LIFE ACADEMY

About Me

I am a Clinical Psychologist, and have worked in the field of Psychology since 2005. I specialise in work with people who have physical health problems, with a particular interest in chronic pain, gynaecology, urogynaecology, healthcare-related trauma, and medically unexplained symptoms. I aim to support people who may otherwise feel marginalised by their difficulties, to lead a full and fulfilling life.

Approach

I consider myself a warm, compassionate, empathic person, and I focus on providing a calm, safe therapeutic space to enable reflection and growth in therapy. My goal is to provide formulation-led interventions, and I draw on a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). In addition, I am experienced in providing psychological therapy to psychological therapists and other healthcare professionals.

Education

I completed my Psychology undergraduate degree in 2004 at the University of Edinburgh, before going on to complete my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Leeds in 2010. After gaining my doctorate, I returned to Scotland where I have worked in the NHS alongside private practice. I have since undertaken various additional training in ACT, CFT, trauma-focused CBT, and CFT for trauma. I am a supervision trainer, and can offer supervision in the above models to psychologists and psychological therapists.

• MA (hons) Psychology (2000-2004), University of Edinburgh

• DClinPsych (2007-2010), University of Leeds

Experience

In the 19 years I have worked in Psychology Services within the NHS, and in addition, my private practice in more recent years, I have been privileged to work with adults and older adults from a variety of backgrounds.  The majority of my time has been spent working with people who have physical health difficulties, but I am also experienced in working with low mood, anxiety, bereavement, healthcare-related trauma, and adjusting to life transitions (such as retirement and parenting).
